ZHyRON will be at NetZero Milan 2026 (20–22 October, Allianz MiCo) to present its hydrogen-based route for recycling steelmaking by-products into valuable iron and zinc resources: a step forward for a more circular and decarbonised steel industry.

The ZHyRON Consortium is pleased to announce its participation in NetZero Milan 2026, taking place from 20–22 October 2026 at Allianz MiCo, Milan (Italy).

As one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to the net-zero transition, NetZero Milan brings together industry leaders, research organisations, public authorities, innovators and investors to accelerate the deployment of sustainable technologies. The event offers ZHyRON an excellent opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and showcase its contribution to a more circular and decarbonised steel industry.

ZHyRON will be featured at the ICONS Stand within the Solutions Hub, alongside other EU-funded projects coordinated and supported by ICONS. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the project’s objectives, ongoing activities and latest developments, and discuss its innovative approach to steelmaking by-product recycling with consortium representatives.

ZHyRON is developing a new pyrometallurgical-hydrometallurgical route, powered by green hydrogen, to recycle iron- and zinc-rich steelmaking by-products such as EAF and BOF dust, sludges and mill scales, turning them into Direct Reduced Iron and recoverable zinc oxide, instead of sending them to landfill. By cutting CO2 emissions and production costs, the project contributes to the steel sector’s path towards carbon neutrality by 2050.

See you at NetZero Milan 2026!

Stop by the ICONS Stand to discover ZHyRON’s work, meet the project team, and explore how hydrogen-based recycling can shape the future of the steel industry.
